When the sky gets dark and it starts to rain, some umbrella sellers get ready for work. For them, when it rains, they make enough money.
With the news of heavy rain coming for the 2025-2026 back-to-school period, umbrellas have become a good way for some people to earn money. Many people are buying them now to be ready for the rain. David Salvador, who sells umbrellas, says, “This is our busy time. People mostly want umbrellas when the rainy season comes.” When the first drops of rain fall, customers quickly appear.
They look for something simple that can keep them dry. For some sellers, this means a chance to make good sales in a short time. You can see umbrella sellers everywhere when it rains outside, near office buildings, in markets, on streets. They offer a simple solution to a common problem.
For these sellers, the weather forecast is their best friend. A prediction of rain means a prediction of good business. It is a simple job that depends completely on the sky. “When the sun is shining, business is slow. But when the clouds gather, it is time to go to work,” Salvador explains.
The prices vary depending on what kind of umbrella you want, he says. The big ones go from 1,500f to 2,000f, while the small ones are 1000f. He goes on to advise a purchase of bigger ones, the reason being for accommodating not only one person but two and even three.
Some parents have added umbrellas to their children’s back to school furniture. “They love it, when they see it they want it and we have no choice than to buy it, and it’s not expensive so why not buy it for them,” says Ornella Claudia, a parent.
