Waate Matanga Jacques Stéphane recorded 18/20 to emerge as the highest scorer in the 2025 Baccalaureate Examination nationally. He was honored last Friday during the fourth edition of the “Rendez-vous des Majors” award which recognizes and celebrates academic excellence.
Sixteen-year-old Waate Matanga Jacques Stéphane has secured the best Baccalaureate Student prize for the 2024/2025 academic year at the fourth edition of the award scheme known by its French language appellation as “Rendez-vous des Majors”. The youngster was honored during a special ceremony held at the Yaounde Conference Centre by the award’s scheme last Friday August 22 to celebrate Cameroon’s brightest academic achievers.
The event brought together 50 outstanding learners who distinguished themselves during the 2024/2025 academic year. The event was presided over by the Technical Adviser of the National School of Administration and Magistracy, ENAM, Samuel Epee on behalf of the representative of the school’s Director General, Pierre Bertrand Soumbou Angoula.
The young students who were honored during the event presented innovative projects that they developed during their academic journeys, reflecting their hard work and their engagement to excellence. Among the students was 16-year-old Waate Matanga Jacques Stéphane. Waate Matanga earned the highest score nationally on the 2025 Baccalaureate Examination after scoring an average of 18/20.
Speaking to the press after receiving the award, the youngster said he was honored to receive the distinction. He promised to continue striving to make his parents and the country even prouder in the future.
Authorities stated during the event that the award scheme is not only tailored to acknowledge the efforts that have been made by the honorees but equally designed to strongly inspire the distinguished youngsters and their peers to pursue their future goals with relentless dedication and commitment.
The authorities said the efforts that are made by the award scheme highlight the importance of supporting academic excellence and nurturing young talent in Cameroon.
