Aimed to secure every child’s fundamental right to an official identity, over 7,000 children are expected to receive birth certificates through a special mobile court operation in the Figuil community.
The national Civil Status System Reform Support Program (PAREC) has provided the people of Kolé-Figuil with greater access to legal services. Their community center was busy on September 25, 2025, hosting a special mobile court from the Court of First Instance of Guider. Officials state that , this event is a key part of PAREC, an initiative of the Head of State of Cameroon.
The goal is to provide birth certificates for primary school children. By holding the mobile court directly in the community, the program removes barriers that prevent access to the civil status system. This guarantees children their fundamental right to an official identity. Parents, children, and witnesses attended, showing the importance of this civic process.
After Kolé, the operation will continue in other cantons of the Community of Figuil, with Lam as the next step. The Divisional Inspector of Basic Education, the local coordinator, was satisfied with the first phase. He praised the synergy between the authorities. About 7,000 children are expected to benefit from this operation. This initiative according to officials is part of a national effort to modernize the civil status system, protect children’s rights, and strengthen citizenship. It shows the interest of Cameroon to building a more just society where every child counts.
