A government meeting held in the conference room of the higher teachers training college of the University of Yaounde 1, concluded resulting in new plans to make diploma issuance more efficient and potentially restart PhD admissions for the 2025-2026 academic year.
The Minister of Higher Education, Professor Jacques FAME Ndongo, presided over the University Coordination Commission session 2025 along university leaders at the conference room of the higher teachers training college of the University of Yaounde 1.
The main discussion centered on how universities can better support national development goals. During the meeting, some experts presented ideas for improving the university system. Two key decisions emerged, a special team be formed to find solutions for issuingdiplomas more quickly and securely, the government will consider allowing universities to accept new PhD students again, after a period of suspension.
Some University leaders reported that digital learning centers provided to universities are now working with the minister emphasizing that these centers should be used effectively and any technical problems should be fixed.
The gathering concluded with instructions for universities to prepare properly for the new academic year starting in 2025-2026, university leaders sincerely thanked the country’s President for his deep care and support for Cameroon’s universities.
