The journey from primary school to secondary education, and gradually to university, is the path of education. The 2025-2026 back to school season kicked off this September 8, 2025, with Form One students starting a new chapter of their academic career.
The move from primary to secondary school marks a major step in every student’s journey. Form One students at Master College Mballa II are experiencing this firsthand as they enter new classrooms, meet new teachers, and adjust to a more independent style of learning. Meanwhile, returning students are advancing to higher grades, building on the knowledge and friendships they have already established. In classrooms, you see them in their new uniforms, a crisp sky blue shirt paired with a dark blue tank top, a matching dark blue skirt, and a carefully knotted tie.
The colours seem to mirror their journey the bright blue speaking of open skies and new possibilities, the deeper blue reflecting the structure and seriousness of their new environment. The first days are spent exploring, learning to recognize the buildings, locating their classrooms, and mastering their teachers’ names and faces. Their bags are heavy with new textbooks, their new chapter started immediately after they put their feet in class. Subjects multiply, like sciences, physics, chemistry, history, geography, and many others. The students are very calm because they do not yet know each other, but it is just a matter of time.
Mary says her first day is good: «My first day is good. Teachers are already in class teaching us what is to be done and how, and doing presentations. » Speaking with the principal, Master Bilingual College Mballa 2 in Yaounde, Dr. Abang Rupert Njuk, he stated, “School has formally resumed in accordance with the ministerial order. It is true that Form One students have arrived and will discover new subjects. However, the curriculum has been designed to ensure they will not face any difficulties.” This highlights the challenging phase new students face and shows confidence in the system designed to support them. For those who have not yet resumed school, Dr. Abang Rupert Njuk, principal, Master Bilingual College, says, «The teachers have 36 weeks of lessons and we have to respect that. Teachers have designed their sheets and these sheets guarantee that teachers will complete their program during these 36 weeks. » The new academic year has begun with a sense of promise and purpose. For Form One students, this is a time of exciting discovery as they adapt to a new environment and a broader curriculum.
